People always ask me, “Corey. . .how in the heck do you have the energy to go nuts in the gym when you start at 4:30AM?”
Well beyond the obvious answers of budgeting enough sleep and getting the right pre-workout nutrition, I tell them “it’s the music in my head.” My mp3 player is as an integral part of my workout attire as my weight belt or wrist-wraps. The playlist I have is like my own personal action movie soundtrack, where I’m in every fight scene and I kick ass every time. It’s a blast of audio-adrenaline that allows to me to focus on each and every exercise and pushes me to do 5 more pounds, 5 more reps, etc.
Here’s a sampling of what I listened to during most morning workouts:
- Indestructible – Disturbed
- Am I Evil? – Metallica
- Break Stuff – Limp Bizkit
- Get Back – Ludacris
- Back In Black – AC/DC
- Bodies – Drowning Pool
- Ten Thousand Fists – Disturbed
- Blind – Korn
- Walk – Pantera
- Broken, Beaten, Scarred – Metallica
If you do your workout minus the music, do yourself a favor. . .get the music in your head. . .and watch what happens to the rest of your body.
What’s on your playlist?
